Aus Food News: Little Big Dairy Co takes home multiple medals from NSW dairy competition

A small regional dairy company has been named best in state at the Dairy Industry Association of Australia’s New South Wales awards.

‘Little Big Dairy Co’, based in Dubbo, took out gold medal places for its full cream and ‘less cream’ milks. It also won gold for its pouring cream and double cream, along with a silver medal for its no cream milk.

The dairy company’s whole milk entry went on to win Champion White Milk and Overall Champion Milk.

Director of the Little Big Dairy Company, Emma Elliott, said she felt the win was a great achievement for a relatively young company.

“We’re pretty shocked, there was over 400 entries in the competition and it’s a pretty big deal for a small company like ours to win it when we’re competing against much larger brands,” Elliott said.

The Little Big Dairy Co is owned and operated by the Chesworth family which includes 6th and 7th generation dairy farmers. It has been producing single source milk and cream products since 2012.

“Being single source and bottling the milk on our farm gives us an advantage compared to businesses that outsource milk from other farms, they just don’t have the same level of quality control,” Elliott said about its production process.

The Little Dairy Co will now represent NSW at the 2017 Australian Grand Dairy Awards.
