2024 Supported Dairy Internship program

The Supported Dairy Internship program offers students embarking on tertiary education in agriculture related degree (e.g. rural science, animal science, veterinary science, agriculture science) an exposure to practical dairy farm operation and business enterprise, through work experience and participation in dairy industry forums.

You will be provided with employment as a casual Dairy Hand during university term breaks. 18 weeks is the minimum commitment of being available to work in a year is required. Should you continue to be employed by the Company for more than two years, you will be provided with the opportunity to attend World Dairy Expo USA.

The key terms and conditions of your employment are briefly summarised below:

Due to the nature of your position, your employment conditions are regulated by the Pastoral Award 2020.

Available bonus:

o $5,200 per annum payable in two instalments to be reviewed upon the supply of semester course result.

o A maximum of $2,500 towards accommodation and conference costs of attending Australian Dairy Conference

o submit one page report of learnings from conference, and o keep a diary of activities at the conference. Eligibility criteria for bonus payment:

o maintain full time university study load; and o obtain a minimum of pass mark for all courses; and o work for LBDF during all period of university break, which must total a minimum of 18 weeks per annum and includes Easter long weekend; and o maintain acceptable standard of work performance; and

o adhere to company policies and procedures.

To be successful the applicant is required to be available to commence the program on 27 November 2023.

Essential criteria

o acceptance into agricultural related degree (e.g. rural science, animal science, veterinary science, agriculture science);

o experience in working with large animals such as cattle or horses.

o able to ride a 2-wheel motorbike.

o a reliable car and driver’s licence.

o sound skills in communications – written and verbal, mathematics, use of smart phone apps.
